The library: a
living space at the heart
of the school
A place of intellectual awakening, curiosity, and connection, the CSJV library holds a central place in our students' journey. Through a rich literary program and a varied collection, it encourages a love of reading, critical thinking, and openness to others.

A cultural hub
The CSJV library is much more than a place to borrow books.
Our team works closely with teachers to support educational projects and develop information literacy skills.
The library is a place where learning and discovery come together, in line with the school's values and educational mission.

Why the library?
The answer may seem obvious, but in today's educational context, there is more than one reason at the heart of the library at CSJV. In the era of digital technology and artificial intelligence, reading remains essential for the growth and education of our youth. The CSJV library promotes a modern approach to reading: critical, creative, and collective, by offering a varied catalogue and engaging activities for our students throughout the year.
In line with our educational mission and the school's values, the library aims to develop in our students:
the pleasure of reading in French;
the ability to interpret, analyze, and debate;
curiosity toward diverse voices from the Francophonie and beyond.
This calm yet stimulating space is fully aligned with our graduate profile, fostering active, sensitive, and open-minded readers.
A varied and accessible catalogue
Our collection covers a wide range of French and English works, from youth novels to plays, and even comics and manga.
This diversity allows every student to find their gateway to reading, regardless of their background or interests. Teachers also draw on this collection to enrich their educational projects and participate in library activities, including the Grand Literary Prize.

The CSJV Grand
Literary Prize
Every year, the CSJV Grand Literary Prize brings students and staff together around a carefully curated selection of books. The Grand Literary Prize begins in November and ends in May.
Each year, the elementary section kicks things off with accessible comics, while secondary students dive into complex and current narratives. The books are presented in class, available at the library, and accessible through the Biblius platform.
Year-round literary activities and programming
In addition to the Grand Prize, the librarian organizes several initiatives to cultivate a passion for words:
Reading Month
Meetings with Quebec and international authors
Book clubs by level or genre
Writing and slam contests
These activities encourage public speaking, idea exchange, and discovery of new literary genres. They are integrated into our educational activities and support learning.
We remind you that the library is located in room A-222 and is open from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
